Adventure #37 - Hauler Parade and Pole Day

Hubby gets a kick out of me being excited about the hauler parade. I don't know why it is, I just love how colorful they are and how dedicated the drivers are. They take a lot of time to make them shine. In Vegas, since it's nighttime, they are all lit up!

We could hear them coming before we could even see them.

And just like that, it was over. The shortest parade we have ever seen.

We have no idea why they were missing so many haulers. We have a feeling it had to do with the time they held it. Or maybe it's because of last years boo-boo. Kyle Busch's hauler was taller than the clearance for the footbridge and ran right into it!

We did notice they had it very well marked for the height, so maybe their trucks were too tall.

It didn't matter to our neighbors or us that the parade was short. We all stood around for almost an hour talking about racing, how long we all have been together, for us it's been 14 years in that space. One guy, the one known as grandpa, for him it's been over 20 years. They all remember when our 'grand's' came when they were little, and the Easter Egg hunts we had.

Oh, those were the days my friends, we thought they'd never end...but then they do. They grow up and join baseball, soccer, Girl's Scouts, 4-H, color guard, even jobs for our almost adult 'grand's' just to name a few things that had dates that didn't work with the race dates.

Our sunset for the night. Tomorrows a full day in the track!

Our day started pretty early.

We woke to a 10% chance of rain, which never happened. The clouds hung around a good part of the day.

Today is the infield. We got in kind of late and didn't see any drivers in the garages. Qualifying was to start soon, so we strolled around looking for an excellent place to watch it from when we found them going through the tech station.

Again we got there towards the end of tech but still got some nice shots.

After we went and found a place to watch qualifying. Hubby noticed that after the first round, the drivers were walking up Victory Lane to be interviewed. He found out how we can get in there, and I was able to get a few of the top 12 drivers picture. Except for Kyle Larson who qualified 31st.

Kyle Larson                                       Jimmie Johnson

Ryan Preece                                        Ryan Newman

Martin Truex Jr                                        Kevin Harvick

Kyle Busch                                        Chase Elliot

Joey Lagono

Another now we know for the fall race. What an exciting place to be. In between the drivers walking up, we got to talk to a few of the reporters. No guarantee we will have the same experience in the fall, but we will enjoy whatever it will be.

Tomorrow brings more racing and the midway!

What an adventure it has and will be!
