Adventure #19 - A Scenic Adventure to the Track

Once all packed up and ready to hit the road, the last thing to do was to decide which way we wanted to go.

Getting to Vegas, we can go a few ways.

Two of those routes are winding two-lane roads. Add in the dips for the washes, it's like a roller coaster ride and just as bumpy, too.

In the past, we either went US-95 all the way or
the Lake Havasu way to the US-95 or the US-93.

Liking the route we took for the first time in March, from Vegas to Phoenix, we decided to try it again, only this time we would be going the other way. Towing a trailer can slow one down on certain roads, and the US-95 through Vidal to Needles is one of them. It might be the quickest route in a car, but for comfort and items in the trailer, a smoother path is appreciated. Going through Lake Havasu to the I-40 isn't a bad way, but there are speed limits. There is also a stretch of road between Needles and Searchlight that compares to the same way as Vidal. We had the time, so the extra 100 miles wasn't an issue, nor was the extra hour it took.

So off we go!

Hubby was so sweet, he pulled over at the entrance to YPG
so I could get a picture of the big guns with the trailer.

(I've been kinda weird, okay maybe it's obsessed with having her (the trailer) in the photos.
Something I didn't often do with the first trailer, but started with our new one.)

By chance, as we were heading north on the US-95 toward Quartzsite, we saw the crew from the test launch that morning for the YPG and the Orion Project.

Back in 2014, I was at a test launch for the same project.
It was so cool!

After Quartzite we took the I-10 east till we came to the US-60. There really isn't a whole lot along the route.
Well, there were a few RV Parks that might fill up during the season, and a few small stores and bars.
But the scenery, well, it was absolutely spectacular!

As we came through the Lake Mead National Recreation Area,
dust from the winds began to get thick!

Once at the track, it did clear up some.

We spent the evening getting as much set up as possible. The winds were dictating what could and couldn't go up. We'll see what tomorrow brings.

Oh, I forgot to mention my new trick for keeping my clothes in place on the closet rod. I read it somewhere, but they just used the pool noodles. Trying to cut a straight line was a problem. Hubby suggested and then brought home some pipe insulation stuff that is similar to a noodle but a bit sturdier and it already had a slice in it to go around a pipe.

It worked Perfectly!
